Spring in the North Conway area happens to be the perfect time of year for a romantic getaway. After a long winter of snow and cold weather, those first few glorious weeks of spring are just perfect for getting out and enjoying nature and the countryside. The excitement mounts as the daffodils and tulips bloom and the gardens stir after a winter's rest. The grass is now green and the leaves are ready to pop open on the trees. This is truly a refreshing time of the year and is Mother Nature's rebirth of nature.
Birds that migrated for the winter are back and their excitement can be heard in the early mornings. It sounds as if they are as happy as the rest of us that spring in the North Conway area has returned and summer is just around the corner. The
mountains reflect off the spring blue ski and hikers are busy exploring trails and mountain streams. Kayakers are in abundance and the rush of the spring waters are just what they need for an exciting ride. Life in spring in North Conway is just grand!
Elaborate plans are not needed to enjoy spring in the North Conway area. Just call the Old Field House and let spring provide you with a rebirth as well. It may be just want you need.

Dog Sled Races in North Conway are fairly new to the area and are a great spectator sport for all ages. The King Pine Ski Area will host the 3rd Annual
Purity Spring Sled Dog Race Classic on Saturday and Sunday, March 6th and 7th. The course for the dog sled races will be along the groomed Nordic trails of King Pine, with most of the races being held around Purity Lake. Mushers and dog teams will be competing for two days, starting at 9 A.M. each day and continuing until about 3 P.M. in the afternoon. There will be a variety of
races from 3-Dog Juniors up to 8-Dog Pros and there will also be a 12-Mile Open Division.
Admission to the Purity Sled Dog Races is free for spectators and can be viewed from various areas along the course. Spectators should plan to bring cross-country skis or snowshoes, or rent equipment from King Pine if you choose to view the race along the course. If spectators view the dog sled races from the start or finish line, equipment will not be needed.
Another great outdoor winter activity in the North Conway area!

Cross-country skiing and indulging in chocolate is just what happens at the annual Chocolate Festival in Intervale on February 28th. This is known by many as the "Sweetest Day on the Trails"! Participate in the Chocolate Festival and enjoy chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate fountains and fondue, brownies, and chocolate cookies of all kinds. Chocolate delights, scenery, and warm hospitality are waiting to be enjoyed by all!
From 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. participating Inns will be offering chocolate treats as you enjoy a break along the 65KM of trails. It isn't just about cross-country skiing as you can also snowshoe or drive from inn-to-inn. I think that chocoholics will do just about anything to enjoy the chocolate! In addition to the Old Field House, other participating inns include 1785 Inn, Adventure Suites, Eastern Inns, Mountain View Estates, Riverside Inn B&B, Stonehurst Manor, and the Touring Center at Ragged Mountain Equipment.
Festival maps will be available the day of the event and each business will validate your map to confirm your stop. When you have completed the tour, even more chocolate treats will be yours to enjoy. Chocolate Festival passes will be $20 when purchased in advance or $25 if purchased the day of the Festival.

Are you considering visiting the North Conway area to enjoy your Thanksgiving? If not, you should think again. The
Old Field House Inn has several condo units that it rents where families can reunite and enjoy Thanksgiving! Each condo has a fully equipped kitchen and this makes cooking a special Thanksgiving Dinner very easy! This has been a tradition with many of their repeat guests and they would like to make it part of your tradition as well.
The day after Thanksgiving you will then be ready to start your Holiday shopping. North Conway is known by many as a shopping mecca with over 60 shopping outlets. Stores such as Ralph Lauren, L.L. Bean, Brooks Brothers, Talbot's, Children's Place, J. Crew, Gap, and many others are sure to have just what you are looking for this Holiday Season.
At the end of the day, settle back at the Old Field House Inn for a little rest, spend some time in the Jacuzzi, or maybe settle into the Theater to watch a movie.
Thanksgiving and the Old Field House Inn seem like a perfect combination to me! Make sure to reserve early.
